It
was reported in late March that SM Entertainment had postponed SM Town
Live in Tokyo concert originally scheduled for April 9th and 10th. The
concert was postponed due to the tragedy Japan suffered, a 9.0
earthquake and a tsunami. SM Town had visited Japan on January 25th and
26th and it was extremely successful. There were more than 400,000
applicants for tickets for the January concert. All of the seats were
sold out with SM artists performing in front of an audience of more
than 24,000. Because of the demand, SM Entertainment decided to hold an
encore concert on April 9th and 10th. SM Entertainment has announced
the new date for SM Town Live in Tokyo to September 3rd and 4th at the
Tokyo Dome. The September concert is expected to attract over 100,000
people. An SM Entertainment representative said, “‘SM Town Live in
Tokyo’ was held on January 25th and 26th at the Yoyogi National Stadium
in Tokyo and lured 24,000 people, with 400,000 applicants for tickets.
We’re expecting the Tokyo Dome concert to receive hotter responses.”
SM Town Live concerts has already garnered success last year in Seoul
and LA, and Japan at the beginning of the year. The SM family are also
expanding into Europe and will be performing the first ever K-pop
concert in Paris, France, on June 10th.
